ROVING PARAEDUCATOR SUBSTITUTE

LOCATION:  MIll Plain Elementary School

REPORTS TO: Classroom Instructor/Building Principal

DEPARTMENT: Elementary/Secondary

 

Substitute hourly position that transfers to an instructional paraeducator position upon successful completion of paraeducator assessment within 90-day probationary period. If assessment requirement not met within 90 days, position will transfer for regular On-Call Classified Subsitute position at regular substitute rate. 

 

Hours / Work Times 

 

6.33 Hours Per Day (7:40 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. includes 30 minute unpaid lunch)

4.33 Hours on Early-Release Days (7:40 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. includes 30 minutes unpaid time)

6.17 Hours on Designated Full Wednesdays (7:40 a.m. – 2:20 p.m. includes 30 minute unpaid lunch)

 

190 Days Per Year (180 student days / 10 holidays)

 

This position will remain open until a qualified applicant is selected.  The earliest date a recommendation for hire may be submitted is after 12/27/24.

Under the supervision of the classroom instructor and building principal, the roving paraeducator substitute will assist in the supervision of student behavior, activities and student safety by working closely with students on an individual as well as a small group basis.

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT NECESSARY:

Computer/laptop, copy machines, telephone, and all other tools and equipment necessary to perform the essential functions as listed above.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent.
  2. Must successfully complete paraeducator assessment within 90 days.
  3. Basic typing/keyboarding.
  4. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents.
  5. Demonstrated ability to work with and supervise students.
  6. Must possess personal characteristics of flexibility, initiative, and cooperativeness and confidentiality.
  7. Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  8. Demonstrated ability or willingness to learn computer skills.
  9. Demonstrated ability to operate the office equipment as listed above.
  10. Demonstrated ability to perform under conditions of constant interruption.
  11. Must possess physical strength and ability to deal with potentially aggressive behavior of students.
  12. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with others as part of a team.
