Work times and hours vary throughout the year and day dependant on student need.
190 Days Per Year (180 Student days /10 Holidays)

SUMMARY STATEMENT:
Under the supervision of the Transportation Supervisor, the school bus aide is responsible for riding on the bus and assisting the bus driver with dual language students whenever necessary on the regular home-to-school run and during emergencies and/or evacuations. The bus aide is also responsible for completing necessary paperwork.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents.
- Assist the bus driver in loading and unloading students on and off the bus.
- Assist the bus driver in establishing and maintaining a positive climate for students during transport.
- Act quickly and be aware of surroundings so as to ensure the safety of the students being transported.
- Complete daily individual student behavior management forms and turn in to supervisor.
- Attend conferences with administrators, parents, and students when necessary.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT NECESSARY:
Telephone, computer/laptop, copy machines, paper, pens/pencils, clipboard, and all other tools and equipment necessary to perform the essential functions as listed above.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Demonstrated proficiency in preferred language as evidenced by an oral and written evaluation in the preferred language.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents.
- Demonstrated ability to work with and supervise students.
- Must possess personal characteristics of flexibility, initiative, cooperativeness, and confidentiality.
- Must be able to demonstrate competency in detailing information necessary to complete paperwork.
- Most possess physical strength and ability to assist bus driver in loading and unloading wheelchair-bound students on and off the bus and to deal with potentially aggressive behavior of students.
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with others as part of a team.
