SUMMARY STATEMENT:

Under the supervision of the Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and the general supervision of the Family Engagement and Resource Coordinator, the Coordinator of Bilingual Tutoring will provide leadership in coordinating and scheduling tutors and students at school sites as assigned.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Partner with identified community-based organization to provide qualified, bilingual, tutors for students.
  2. Maintain an accurate calendar of all tutoring assignments and make changes to established schedules in a timely manner.
  3. Provide communication via phone, email, or parent communication application to families, as needed, including arranging interpretation and translation support.
  4. Assist parents and tutors with tutoring-related questions and issues.
  5. Organize or monitor student pick-up and transportation at school sites.
  6. Meet with all new tutors and give them an orientation to school site
  7. Monitor tutoring activities and student engagement, intervene if needed.
  8. Arrive at tutoring sites at assigned times, and depart after students are all picked up.
  9. Contact parents of students receiving tutoring prior to their scheduled last day to determine if they wish to continue tutoring.
  10. Conduct a survey of all parents of students in the bilingual tutoring program regarding their satisfaction with tutoring.
  11. Compile information from the bilingual tutoring program parent surveys and submit them to the Family Engagement and Resource Coordinator.
  12. Compile attendance records and submit them to the Family Engagement and Resource Coordinator.
  13. Track participation statistics and evaluate the effectiveness of programs.   

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Participate in staff development opportunities appropriate to the position, as they become available.
  2. Perform other related duties as assigned.

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT NECESSARY:

Computer/Laptop, telephone, copy machines, calculator, and all other tools and equipment necessary to perform the essential functions as listed above.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Two years of related experience in youth programs or any combination of education and experience.
  2. Ukrainian speaking, highly preferred.
  3. Knowledge of public school organization and operation is helpful.
  4. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents.
  5. Demonstrated skills in clear, effective, oral and written communication.
  6. Demonstrated ability to operate a computer, using a Windows environment, including Word, Excel, and other related applications.
  7. Demonstrated ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and follow directions.
  8. Demonstrated ability to program activities, perform needs assessments, and evaluate programs.
  9. Demonstrated ability to work with and supervise school youth.
  10. Demonstrated ability to comprehend and communicate the District's goals, objectives, and policies.
  11. Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  12. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with others as part of a team.
